Commercial refrigeration specialists Liebherr have introduced seven high performance countertop and fully integrated under bench models in their UK lab and healthcare range.
These include two Performance series countertop units and five Performance fully integrated under bench appliances, with specialised units for the storage of explosive and highly flammable substances, for clinical, research and pharmaceutical environments.
Focused on performance, energy efficiency and ease of use, they are designed to address the increasing demand for high-density storage solutions with thermal stability in space-constrained laboratory footprints.
Countertop laboratory appliances, the SRCse 801 Refrigerator and SFCse 801 Freezer, are engineered for versatile placement, fitting securely either under or on top of laboratory worktops to maximise available space without sacrificing the precision of professional-grade refrigeration.
Both boast intuitive digital user interfaces with touch-control navigation and a text-supported menu flow for precise parameter adjustment. Critical safety features include a mechanical lock for unauthorised access protection and a dedicated feedthrough for external sensors, facilitating secondary independent monitoring and validation.
For a built-in configuration, the integrated under bench range includes the SRUvg 1001 Refrigerator, the SRUvg 1011 Refrigerator with glass door, the SFUsg 1001 Freezer and the specialised SRUfg 1001 and SFUfg 1001 flammable storage units.
Their front-facing ventilation systems permit integration into furniture recesses without the need for additional ventilation clearance at units’ rear or ceiling, ensuring flush fit and optimal heat exchange.
Protecting integrity of temperature-sensitive biologicals and reagents, the new appliances deliver reliable temperature stability with a maximum deviation of ±3 K for refrigerators and ±5 K for freezers. Storage is enhanced by corrosion-resistant coated steel shelves for consistent air circulation and temperature stability. A secure pull-out stop preventing accidental removal or tipping aids high-traffic, fast-paced environments.
The built-in SafetyDevice function serves as a critical fail-safe, preventing interior temperatures from dropping below +2°C, preventing accidental cryo-damage. Visual and audible alarms integrated with an alarm relay forward critical notifications to a central laboratory control centre or Building Management System).
For comprehensive audit traceability and regulatory compliance, the appliances feature an integrated DataLogger that records up to five years of temperature history and alarm events. This is complemented by a display that provides immediate access to minimum and maximum temperatures and detailed power failure information upon restoration.
To support modern data requirements, the units are connectivity-ready for Liebherr’s SmartMonitoring technology. This secure, Cloud-based system provides remote oversight of measurement data and appliance statuses, ensuring all information is accurately logged and easily accessible for auditing. Units allow for the retrofitting of LAN or WLAN modules for seamless BMS integration. All models are expertly engineered to meet the highest safety standards, complying with IEC 61010-2-011, while flammable storage variants are specifically certified for the secure storage of volatile materials.
The new models also prioritise hygiene and operational efficiency with:
- Antimicrobial handle is treated with specialised substances to inhibit the transmission of pathogens, reducing bacteria by up to 99.99% (according to ISO 22196:2011.
- Seamless, easy-to-clean inner liner with large radii facilitates decontamination.
- SmartFrost system in freezer units minimises ice build-up.
Additionally, Liebherr lab appliances are fully compliant and ATEX certified. As with all Performance series models, the new appliances conform to safety standard IEC 61010-2-011. Also offered is a five-year guarantee on appliances purchased with SmartMonitoring and a minimum life cycle of 15 years.
