Laboratory News has a new owner, following its acquisition by the pharmaceutical and healthcare publisher PMGroup Worldwide Ltd.
The company, founded in 1988 and a wholly owned subsidiary of Datateam Business Media Ltd, operates numerous B2B brands and events in the UK and overseas across the pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare sectors.
The acquisition from previous owner Synthesis Media Ltd, includes Laboratory News’ digital and print magazines as well as its website, together with the supplier-driven Laboratory Talk website,
In a statement, the new owner said the publication would benefit from its extensive resources and global reach.
Karl Equi, executive director of PMGroup Worldwide Ltd stated:
"We are very pleased to have acquired Laboratory News from Synthesis Media. Both it and Laboratory Talk are a natural fit within our substantial portfolio of titles in a range of related areas."
“We look forward to providing the laboratory sector with a trusted source of information in print, digital and online."
PMGroup comprises four separate groups with nearly 30 titles: PMGroup, Samedan Pharmaceutical Publishers, PharmaTimes and Hayward Medical Publishing.
Founded more than 50 years ago, Laboratory News was bought by Synthesis Media in 2017. The firm’s other title, Process Engineering, has also been acquired by Datateam Business Media, itself owner of a wide range of building, retail and industry titles including Process & Control magazine.
Managing director of Datateam Business Media Ltd, Parvez Kayan, commenting on the transfer of Laboratory News stated: “Acquiring Laboratory News strengthens our commitment to the scientific community and is a natural extension of our portfolio. We look forward to building on its 50-year legacy by providing an even greater platform for lab professionals and the suppliers who support them.”
News of the transfer was welcomed by Synthesis Media publisher Sean Marshall, who founded the company in 2011.
"I am delighted to be passing Laboratory News magazine and its website, together with Laboratory Talk, on to PMGroup Worldwide Ltd. After nearly a decade of publishing the title, it feels very reassuring to know that such a professional and well-established enterprise is now at the helm,” he said.
"Laboratory News is an ideal fit within PM Group’s large portfolio of pharmaceutical, biotech and medical brands and I confidently expect to see it go from strength to strength."
