Markes International has announced the publication of a new application note on the cryogen-free measurement of tracelevel ultra-volatile compounds in air including CFC’s (chlorofluorocarbons) and HCFC’s (hydrochlorofluorocarbons). Though only present at ppt and ppb levels these compounds have both high Global Warming Potential (GWP) and high Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP). The work described in the technical note demonstrates on-line or canister-based air monitoring technology offering low or sub ppt detection limits for N2O, SF6, CF4, C2F6. It also shows system compatibility with the full range of hazardous air pollutants, specified by US EPA as ‘air toxics’. Full analytical conditions and analytical performance details are described in the 6-page note.
