Applied Biosystems has developed the SOLiD RNA Expression Kit for high throughput discovery of novel RNA molecules on the next-generation sequencing platform, without requiring sequence information. The kit is expected to dramatically improve the ability of researchers to identify small RNA molecules and perform experiments that were not previously possible. The SOLiD Small RNA Expression Kit converts total RNA into a library suitable for input into the SOLiD System workflow for high throughput genomic analysis, reducing the sample preparation workflow to just one day, compared to four days using alternative platforms. The new workflow requires only very small sample quantities and helps to decrease the costs and experimental variability.
