Wrexham Maelor Hospital, with 700 beds, is the largest single site hospital in North Wales. It has a state-of-the-art pharmacy which provides the most modern facilities in the UK. Although the hospital had a long established building and energy management system, developed and monitored by Next Systems, a completely separate installation for the pharmacy was needed to monitor standard, operational and cold room temperatures plus refrigerated chillers, incubators and freezers down to minus 20ËšC. The hospital chose the Tutela for monitoring System, also from Next. The system also monitors the activity of a dispensing robot unit which can work round the clock. To give complete coverage Next installed 25 sensors in the dispensary area, 12 in the aseptic unit and 10 in quality assurance.
